To create three hybrid children card games, both for iOS and Android. The games would be Hora de Aventura, Jogo do Mico and Turma da Mônica. They would all be free to download, but the player must have the card decks to play. The main goal was to create a product that would have a digital component, and would be the first hybrid card game in Brazil.
I was the lead Designer working with a Visual Designer, a UX Designer and a development partner to scope and design the features in the apps. I worked on game mechanics, product design, packages, sketches, wireframes, prototypes, UX design and visual design for the entire project.

- Adobe Illustrator
One of the main difficulties we faced was to design a good flow between the children card games, and the apps. Each game had its own mechanics and we would create only one way to interact with the app. Also, it had to be a simple interaction, not only because it would be played by kids, but also because we would like it to work on several screens and operational systems. Then, we decided that the players could play the entire game without the apps, but if they added the interaction, they would have even more fun. The other way around is not possible, which means that the apps could not be played without the cards. The system is simple: the apps work like hosts of game shows, and in between any time, they would ask some player to interact, like “find a mammal animal”, and the player should respond with their cards.
The first thing we did was a benchmark research. We were looking for good ways for the users to interact their cards with the apps. We decided that the best way would be for the cards to have “touch” codes. So, whenever the app calls for an action, the player would put the card over the screen, and tap a code over the card. After that, we’ve made a lot of sketches, both for the cards and the interaction assets. Then, the prototypes and several tests with our team. We’ve made the soft launch at the end of 2015. Since then, we’ve iterated and updated the apps.
The games were unique as soon as they hit the market. The way the player interacts their cards with the apps is really simple, and have a great impact on those who plays it. Not only the kids, but their parents were really into this mechanics, and loved the way it was implemented.
